BOCOG confident in success of Olympic opening ceremony
(Beijing, December 22, 2005) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (
BOCOG) is confident in the success of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Games, BOCOG executive vice-president and vice-mayor of Beijing Liu Jingmin said today.
Tens of thousands of people have taken part in the design of the Olympic ceremony and a total of over 600 proposals have taken shape, Liu said in an interview with the Beijing Public Service Radio.
In addition, Liu said, BOCOG has organized a number of teams to embark especially on the creative work. Renowned designers and artists at home and abroad are among the people interested in responding to BOCOG's call, pushing the campaign forward.
In recent years, Liu said, the call for an Olympic Theme Song has become an annual event. BOCOG will make the call again this year. It hopes that more citizens and music-lovers will participate in the creative activity with an aim to contribute a high-level theme song embodying universal theme and Chinese characteristics.

Beijing Olympic ticketing starts in 2007
(Beijing, December 22, 2005) -- Ticketing of Beijing
2008 Olympic Games will start in the first half of 2007, according to vice-mayor of Beijing Liu Jingmin.
The Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) is expected to unveil the ticketing plan for the 2008 Games in the first half of 2006 and the ticket sale will start in 2007, said Liu in an interview with the Beijing Public Service Radio this morning.
According to usual practice, Liu said, part of the Olympic tickets will be reserved for the International Olympic Family. However, BOCOG will put as many tickets onto the market as possible.
Liu Jingmin, also BOCOG executive vice-president, said the price of the ticket for the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games will be relatively high. In addition, some hot sports might cost more, as it has happened in past Olympic Games. But BOCOG will make most of the Olympic tickets affordable to ordinary people.
