Philippe Blanchard of IOC congratulates the opening of Olympic Library and Information Center(full text)

Dear Colleagues, Dear Chinese Friends,


   I learnt that your Center is to set up the Olympic Library & Information Center at the University.


   I remember we shared common ideals and strategies in promoting Olympic Values; I am now very pleased to see that we will share also common tools. I have always been impressed and held high respect for the leadership provided by Professors FENG Huiling and JIN Yuanpu to the studies Center and the dedication and commitment exhibited by the task force.


  The establishment of the Olympic Library & Information Center will provide you a greater accessibility to the materials needed for your research work, and will help you learn from past Games experiences and lessons.


   Of course, this will result in a stronger intellectual support to the Beijing 2008 Games preparation work. Furthermore, the setup of the Center can help promote the spread of the Olympic culture and the Olympic spirit in China and this is something very important to me.


  I enjoyed my first meetings and work with Professors FENG Huiling and JIN Yuanpu very much. I am willing to maintain my support to the construction of the Olympic Library & Information Center. If time permits, I would like to visit the Humanistic Olympic Studies Center again, donating to you some materials (books, pictures and films) from the International Olympic Committee.
